Pay Tribute To Genocide Victims


KT Rwanda Networks staff, on May 27th, 2022, visited NYANZA- KICUKIRO Genocide Memorial site in KICUKIRO District to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and donated towards the vision of the memorial site preservation.

At the memorial, the KTRN’s staff members learned about the history of Genocide in the area and laid wreaths on mass graves.

Nyanza- KICUKIRO Genocide Memorial is home to more than 105,000 victims among these victims, over 3,000 were killed by Interahamwe-militia after they were abandoned by UN peacekeepers. 

The CEO of KTRN heard about the 1994 Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi for the first time in 2015 and learned more about it when he came to Rwanda. “1994 Genocide against Tutsi shouldn’t be taken as Rwandan concern only, but a Global concern, so that everyone learns from the Rwandan history and ensure that atrocity never happens again elsewhere in the world.” He said.


“Thanks to Rwandans for their unity, resilience, and effort in building a remarkable country.” He said.

KAMANZI Jean Baptiste, KTRN Staff, urged everyone to use social media and other online platforms to confront those with hatred ideology and Genocide deniers.


Brave Olivier Ngabo, PROGRAMS DIRECTOR OF IBUKA –an umbrella organization of Genocide survivors– thanked KTRN for its support in the preservation of the Nyanza-Kicukiro genocide memorial site, and urged other companies to do so.


By maintaining the memorial sites, the memory and history of the people who are laid to rest on the memorials won’t be forgotten and will help future generations to learn about what happened and ensure that Genocide never happens again.
